Pre-Christmas Procastination & some new releases
Well, it is past the middle of November - a very successful International Festival of Authors is over and I have time now to think ahead to Christmas at Parry Sound Books. The store is decorated and the window is done, a winter wonderland that I looked through to beautiful days that felt like fall earlier this week - today it is snowing, but still beautifully sunny. I've had my car serviced for winter and my snow tires put on - so I do plan ahead. But I did not plan far enough ahead to give the printer time to print a Christmas newsletter - so we will experiment with news by e-mail from this website to tell you about some Christmas book suggestions - and to let you know about our plans to celebrate our 23rd anniversary on Saturday 3 December.
I am not always as attentive as I should be about updating and making good use of this website, but I will try, in addition to your weekly review, to send you some information about new books and Christmas gift suggestions as we head into the serious shopping season! We'd like to see you shopping at Parry Sound Books and we'll do our very best to help you find something for everyone on your list.
New this week - Janet Evanovich is back with a new Stephanie Plum novel Explosive Eighteen
Two long awaited books for young readers arrived in recent days - Inheritance continues the series by Christopher Paolini that began with Eragon. There is a new Dairy of a Wimpy Kid - Cabin Fever - #6 in this popular series (especially for boys who would really rather not read).
We have lots of stock of the Giller Prize winning novel Half-Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan and The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt, the winner the Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction - our congratulations to both!
