End of November 2010
The mornings are dark - and the afternoons too - but the shortest day of the year has past! We have decorated the store for Christmas in time for the Parry Sound Santa Claus parade this coming weekend. It is light and bright and festive in the store no matter what the weather outside.
New books arrive every day - including paperback editions of The Sea Captain's Wife by Beth Powning, and Major Pettigrew's Last Stand - the story of a love affair between a retired British Major and a Pakistani shopkeeper, both families are scandalized. It is a well written, feel good novel, perfect for Christmas gift giving. You can read a full review on our website.
We also have in stock Cool Water by Dianne Warren, the winner of the 2010 Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction, and The Sentimentalist by Johanna Skibsrud, the winner of the 2010 Scotiabank Giller Award
There is a new Bryce Courtenay The Story of Danny Dunn, and John Casey with Compass Rose, and Patricia Cornwell with a new Scarpetta mystery Port Mortuary to mention just a few that have come in this week.
We are here to help you choose just the right book for everyone on your Christmas list - and if you are really stumped remember what great gifts our Gift Certificates make - let your readers choose their own books and take the stress out of your shopping altogether.
