News week of 15 September 2017
This is the big season for new books – everyday here is like Christmas as we open boxes full of books we just can’t wait to read!
The Boat Runner by Devin Murphy is a WW2 story that begins in the Netherlands and follows a young boy into France and Germany. This one is going to the top of my “to read next” pile.
The Scarred Woman , a Department Q novel from Jussi Adler-Olsen, as Detective Carl Morek meets his toughest challenge yet with a sinister unsolved murder.
That’s My Baby by Francis Itani continues the story she began in earlier novels, as the Second World War looms.
Smile by Roddy Doyle is a psychological suspense novel about the uncertainty of memory and how we contend with the past.
The Good People by Hannah Kent takes place in 19th century Ireland, based on true events it is a tale of absolute belief and devoted love.
Runny Babbit Returns by Shel Silverstein is a wonderfully silly book of verse in a return to the topsy-turvey world of Runny Babbit and friends.
