News week ending 8 April 2016
It is a winter wonderland outside my window – hard to believe really as my husband has spent the past week repairing a boat - getting ready for summer – you can only laugh.
For the next two weeks we have loaded our sale table with books about knitting and quilting – and all of our regular priced knitting and quilting books are 20% off
Some very lovely new books have arrived this week -
Little Dogs by the talented Michael Crummey is a collection of poems -some long out of print, and several new ones. Great treat for National Poetry month.
For the kids -
Go Home Bay written by Susan VandeGrick, and beautifully illustrated by Pascal Milelli, tells the story of a summer that the painter Tom Thomson spent at a cottage on Georgian Bay.
Grandad’s Island by Benji Davies is a gorgeously illustrated book with a beautiful story. Grandad and his grandson, Syd, love each other and enjoy their time together. This book can be read on two levels depending on the age of the child and the situation. It could be a book that is comforting if a grandparent has died – or simply a lovely story of a grandfather’s love.
My Book of Birds by Geraldo Valerio is another beautifully illustrated book – reminded me of Charlie Harper’s paintings. A great big wonderful book about birds!
