A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler is a novel chronicling the history of a modern 20th century family over four generations, from one of America’s most popular writers.
New in hardcover is Glory Over Everything by Kathleen Grissom. This is a sequel to The Kitchen House which was a huge bestseller six years ago. The story takes place in the north where former salves and those born free can almost live without fear. We follow the story of James, who passes for white, but lives in fear of being exposed as a black man. When he must return to the south to repay a debt of kindness he is in real danger. If I didn’t need to sleep I’ve have stayed up all night to read this book!
