New books this week
Very Good Lives by J K Rowling is a commencement address given by the author at Harvard University – an inspiring little gift for graduates this spring
Missoula by John Krakauer – sub-titled “Rape and the Justice System in a College Town” about a series of sexual attacks at the University of Montana.
A Desperate Fortune by Susanna Kearsley – another novel from this very popular author combining a contemporary story with history.
The Steady Running of the Hour by Justin Go – a novel that tells the story of a 1924 attempt to summit Mount Everest and the search for truth 80 years later.
The Train to Warsaw by Gwen Edelman – a sublime little novel now out in paperback. The story of a famous author born in Poland, and his wife, who return for the first time after escaping the Warsaw Ghetto in 1942. Brilliant portrait of a marriage, and what happens when they return to the city of their birth – a voyage of memory and revelation.
