IFOA Parry Sound
IFOA Parry Sound welcomed a group of authors and staff from the International Festival of Authors to Parry Sound on 1 November - before the readings began the group enjoyed a view of the Bay and some a walk on our beautiful fitness trail along the waterfront. Those in attendance enjoyed an evening of exhilarating readings by four authors.
Sandra Birdsell began the evening with a riveting reading from Waiting For Joe, her novel about a couple down on their luck - not quite working as a team to change their lives.
Katherine Govier followed with a reading from The Ghost Brush, her new novel about a woman artist in Japan in the early 1800's - and the day she learned how a chicken played a role in a famous work of art.
Andrea Levy wowed the crowd with a reading from The Long Song - she spoke as her character, July, who was born as a slave in Jamaica - she was actress and author.
Tom McCarthy read from his novel C - a mesmerizing passage about morse code and communication.
Thanks to everyone who made this evening such a success - especially to the great audience!
